This past weekend was a bit of a let down, weather-wise, but we tried to make the best of it.
Friday night we went across the road and spent the evening with Wanda & Steven. They have a firepit so it was nice to sit close to the fire, sipping on some beer and telling funny stories. They're such a nice couple. The highlight of the night was Chris attempting to eat a thai chilli pepper after claiming 'nothing is hot enough' when it comes to spice in his food. Methinks he met his match.
Saturday, we got up and out of the house fairly early (for us anyway), stopping at Timothys for a coffee, and then walking down to the Arts Guild to catch the annual photography show that was being put on by a local photography club. We were asked to vote for our favourite, and as Chris' photographic eye has a bit more knowledge to it than my own, we were there a little while ;). From there, we headed back to the car, and as we travelled down the street, we happened upon Thomas and Bobbi-Jo in their car. Of course Chris did a U-ie, and we met up with them. They were on their way to the library, so we went with. From there, the boys met up with some old friends playing hacky-sack, and they joined in. I snapped a few photos but didn't hacky - I was wearing sandals. After that, we headed over to the Humane Society - I don't know how we make it out of there without an armload of animals...it breaks my heart to see them all caged up...and more still to go back and see one that had been there for a while, and suddenly isn't there :(. After saying hi to the cats & dogs we grabbed some horribly unhealthy but tasty donairs for supper and headed home. With full bellies, we then had a little nap, headed back out to Walmart, and then back home - I had a blinding headache, so went to bed shortly after we got home.
Sunday was a bit of the same - we headed around to various stores looking for a firepit/chiminea for the deck. It was so cozy up on Steve/Wanda's deck with the fire, we just had to have our own. We found a cast-iron one on sale at Kent - similar to the one pictured. We would have preferred a clay one, but this one was in our budget, and after figuring out the flame would be accessible all around the circumference of the chiminea as opposed to just the opening, we opted for this one as opposed to looking further. We look forward to spending many a cozy night on the deck - join us...you may have to bring a chair, but the company'll be good :). After shopping, we headed to Chris' parents' house for supper, and then back home where I tidied up and Chris put the chiminea together, before retiring for the night. We're just like an old couple, aren't we?
