Blue Monday??

Hmmph, and I was blaming the full moon :)

http://www.cbc.ca/health/story/2008/01/21/bluemonday.html

My day steadily improved yesterday, meeting up with Tanya for munchies at BP (their nachos are quite delish!), and then we came back to my place for our tardy Christmas gift swap. Thank you, thank you, dolly, for my prezzie! I used the shampoo today, and I'm already preparing how I'm going to reduce my keychain to make way for my new one ;). Tan and I got caught up and reminised a touch, too. I miss her dearly. We don't see nearly enough of one another.

It's happening again...when I get an annoying song stuck in my head...and can't get it out. I had this song stuck yesterday AND today. He totally creeps me out. Oooh Yeah.

Puppy Packer Party

My co-worker cheers for the Packers.

The Packers didn't make it.

My co-worker is pretty sad.

Here's a cute video in memory of your Packers, Chris:

Dumb question - perfect answer

Ok normally forwards don't get much attention from me, but this was emailed to me today and I couldn't help but blog it. Maybe it's the full moon approaching and the unabashed stupidy that ensues. Oh how I'd love the opportunity to say what I 'really think' some days... For those who have ever found themselves in that same kind of situation, I give you this... Give it a look - I seem to recall reading something similar to it at one time, so I apologize if it's a 'repeat' for some of you. Thanks Lori :)

Dumb question - perfect answer

The next time someone asks you a dumb question wouldn't you like to respond like this?.....

Yesterday I was buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for Athena the wonder dog at Wal-Mart and was about to check out. A woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think I had, an elephant? So since I'm retired, with little to do, on impulse, I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, and that I was starting the Purina Diet again. Although I probably shouldn't, because I'd ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awoke in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms. I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled with my story.) Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stepped off a curb to sniff an Irish Setter's ass and a car hit us both. I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack, he was laughing so hard! Wal-Mart won't let me shop there anymore.

Yo, what up?

Greetings - the third week of January is at a close...um...holy doodle, where's the time going to, anyway?
So in the past 3 weeks-ish I've:
  • tried out the new restaurant Mosaic -former Angels location, twice. I was satisfied with the food both times...the service is a little slow but they are new and it will take a bit to get the kinks worked out. The first time I went I was a little disappointed that the meal I ordered (chicken wrap) wasn't offered with a side, but the 2nd time I was asked if I wanted to add a side for an added cost. Nice to have the option. They also get a huge plus from me for serving Timothys coffee!
  • tried out the new Little Christos location - it was ok - I was never a huge fan of the place when it was here before, but Chris was, so last Friday night after work we met Krissy & Marco and dined in. The garlic fingers were quite yummy...the pizza was very cheesy (which is never a problem), but it was pretty dough-y, too. I'd go back to give it another try though in future.
  • read an entire book...this is a huge feat for me. The book, "The Pact" by Jodie Picoult came recommended by a friend. It was pretty good. I must say I really enjoyed sitting back with a book and relaxing.
  • met with my "scrap friend-sy" gals for the day last weekend, and shared many a giggle and prepared a class page (next Tuesday...final kick at the bucket...), a few cards, and continued my "All about Me" book.
  • gone to the BR "New Year" party - a late Christmas party. We had a delicious turkey supper served to us, and our entertainment for the evening was a hypnotist. Chris participated in the 'suggestions'...claiming he was faking it for the most part....but it was very comical and I nearly peed myself from laughing. Nothing like a good belly laugh to work off a little stuffing.
  • taken (finally) the Christmas tree down and de-Christmas'd the house.
  • played many games of Scattergories with friends...if you've not tried, do so, it's so much fun.
That's about it for now...happy weekend!

Oh my...

Happy Wednesday

To start, a funny for you - I quite enjoy the Mutts cartoons, don't you? :)

I am happy to report that I made it in to work this morning, incident-free, with my coffee in hand. My knee is still really sore, but it feels a little better today. I would like to mention how thankful I am for my car horn. Thanks to the horn, I believe I saved my life (or at least my new car's life and undoubtably further damage to my left knee) last night on the way home. There was a large SUV making its way into my lane...right beside me. I beeped...she did hear me or at least saw me at the last second, which prevented her from colliding into my car. I glared at her -she waved at me. I was sooo mad...I was giving her the middle-finger in my mitted hand, let me tell you! Moral of the story: Yesterday really was one of those days were I was fated to have stayed home with the covers over my head - but I tempted fate.

So who out there caught American Idol last night? The caped crusader with the genie outfit - WTF?? And that freak who wrote the song for Paula, "...if she was a tub I'd chaulk her...". Do people just want their 5 minutes in fame...do they just wish to see themselves on the tv? Do their family/friends tell them they have talent to shut them up? Always fun watching the auditions.

Cranky?

CRANKY??? That's an UNDERSTATEMENT.

Mother Nature has allowed the return of winter...and we're in the midst of another 'weather event'....we were expecting 20 cms overnight and there's another 10 cm scheduled to fall today with 70km winds expected. Take a wild guess as to where I'd rather be right now. There were no office closures (in my next life I'm going to be a teacher), so off I go...

So, I stopped at Tim's on the way to get my morning coffee (I need my morning coffee, and we're out of beans so bear in mind there had been NO coffee consumption before I left home) . I had only a $5 bill, so, broke that, and the remaining change is now sitting in my car. I carefully parked my car, backed in to my spot for safety– and because my shift started a half hour after the place opened, there wasn’t a spot close to the door so I had a bit of a walk ahead of me. From where I was to my destination doorway, there is a bit of a "grade", one could say. It had been raining last night before the snow fell - apparently. I saw one of my co-workers near take a dive as I got out of my car, so I very very gingerly started my walk toward the door.

It didn’t help that I was very careful.

It didn't help that I walked very very gingerly.

I went down in a pile.

My entire coffee spilled on the road.

My pride is completely bruised, and godDAMN it, I eff’d my knee. It happened fast but I’m guessing that’s what broke my fall. My left knee. The bad knee. It’s eff’ing killing me. I have no morning coffee, and I have no money to give to someone going out for coffee. As I type, my left wrist is also paining. Perhaps both my knee and the wrist broke my effing fall. I can feel my knee swelling. Holy eff it hurts.

Christmas favorites

So I didn't get around to taking my own pictures - but thanks to the www I was able to find pictures of some of my favourite prezzies ....they include a new pair of snuggly-warm flannels (ever the sexpot I am); my new watch; my CRICUT!!!!!!!!! (Christopher, you really really do spoil me...); I totally look forward to playing my new Grey's trivia game; and, my new 460 thread-count sheets...it's like stepping into heaven.............

Overheard at work:

A co-worker describing his impression of a particular person he was speaking to: "sitting at home in a muumuu with one slipper, eating ice cream with her hands". Some days the intelligence just ooozes in our daily conversations...

From my window seat...

As I sat at my window seat tonight at work I watched the rain pelting into the puddles on the pavement, and heard the pounding of the raindrops on the roof...and I wonder where winter went.... I think back to a week ago when we'd just recovered from a snow storm and were preparing for another one...and I think of our dear friend Marco, who just bought himself a snowmobile on the weekend... Not to mention this was day 2 of me going to work with just a sweater on. Crazy!!!

I want one....

Knut, the baby polar bear who was taken from his mother after she rejected him at birth is now ready for the Berlin zoo. He's 110 days old and weighs in at 9 kilos. His keeper sang him Elvis songs at night...totally-freaking-adorable...I commend his keeper, and those other people out there who rescue animals like this - I don't know how they break the tie though, when it's ready to give them away... It's so scary to think of the future of these beautiful animals with the effects global warming has had...

"It had been somewhat cooked by the time the deputy arrived"

OH my!!!

HAYDEN, Idaho (AP) -- A man who believed he bore the biblical "mark of the beast" used a circular saw to cut off one hand, then he cooked it in the microwave and called 911, authorities said.
The man, in his mid-20s, was calm when Kootenai County sheriff's deputies arrived Saturday. He was in protective custody in the mental health unit of Kootenai Medical Center.
"It had been somewhat cooked by the time the deputy arrived," sheriff's Capt. Ben Wolfinger said. "He put a tourniquet on his arm before, so he didn't bleed to death. That kind of mental illness is just sad."

January 7

Happy Birthday Rose.

Sorry your son forgot (again). I knew I should have put all the family birthdays on the calendar I made for him - though it hasn't made its way to the wall anyway - so the chance of that having helped is nil anyway.

I hope you had a wonderful day.

Water Cat

Oh how I wish I could stop Zoe from using the water bowl as a toy. She plops her paw in the bowl and swishes water out and around until the bowl is empty...leaving a huge puddle around the bowl. I've taken to putting a cloth placemat under the bowl, and this seems to help absorb the mess, but when the bowl is empty from the water play, what are she and Bosco to drink? If it weren't for the fact that the cats need water to survive, I'd remove the bowl entirely. If I put up too much of a fuss while she's "playing", I'm afraid I'll scare her away from the spot completely so she won't drink from there at all. Blarg!!! Isn't
water supposed to be a repellent for a cat, anyway? She sure didn't like her bath when we first got her.... Suggestions?

P.S. I Love You

Go. See. This. Movie.

http://psiloveyoumovie.warnerbros.com/

Happy New Year!!!!!

Ok, so the original thought was no post til I have my Christmas photos to post. Then I had that annoying "Short Dick Man" song stuck in my head & felt the urge to post about it...but then was still sticking to the thought, no more posts til Christmas pics....now goshdarn New Years has come and gone and you are all still waiting for me to post. I'm terribly sorry.

So, to those of you who might be reading from another province, I'll let you know that PEI has pretty much been bombarded with winter the past few days...storming enough to have my place of employment close early on New Years Eve (a feat in itself), and force Christopher and I to ring in the new year solo, in the 'hood. I believe we're on record of receiving the most of the snow - something like 30 cms. Then we had ANOTHER storm go through yesterday, which was dumping another 20 cms, and another rare occurance of shutting my place of employment down early - and delay it's start! OY!!!!!!! I guess I had better invest in some winter boots, eh?

So yeah, Happy New Year - traditionally, I've not been a 'resolution' maker, since anything I resolve to do usually gets broken, and oh do I hate being labelled a 'quitter'...so instead of making a list of 'resolute' items, here's a list of 'suggestive' changes I might or might not follow through with over the course of the next 12 months:
  • I will try to eat more healthy
  • I will read again
  • I will bag a lunch more often as opposed to dining out
  • I will take more pictures
  • I will try to exercise (like I said, suggestive changes)
  • I will continue to post on my blog regularly
  • I will work on seeing the glass as half full rather than half empty
